After reading this article it left me feeling emotional, sad, relieved and happy.

Susan Sarandon is so RIGHT because no woman has the right to suffer and not to be heard!
I went to so many doctors so many times and they palmed my endometriosis off by saying it was just 'really bad period pain' or they would accuse me of having other illnesses which I had NO symptoms for. The only reason for my diagnosis was because of ME after forcing my doctor to take further tests, a woman just knows when her body doesn't feel right.

It has definatley been a long and hard journey and i thought what i was going through was normal. Susan Sarandon's speech was truly inspiring and up lifting as people who do not have this condition have absoluelty no idea and cannot relate to what it feels like to have endometriosis. We do need to talk and get the message out there, thank you for making me feel okay to have this condition and to talk so freely about it.

Anyone can join QENDO, regardless of what state they're in and the more members and support we have, the higher the chances are that we will be able to take our message further.

QENDO is a non-profit, volunteer organisation, Members have the opportunity to be a part of this and to make a difference. Members can help to bring support to their areas and to meet other people in the same situation.

QENDO doesn't receive any funding. We continue to survive through fundraising, memberships, donations and the commitment of our volunteers.

We are all in need of more awareness to be raised and support to be available on the ground. You can help to make this happen.

There are no events in Sydney, NSW has no organisations or associations
QLD is the only state with both of these... maybe next year something will be in syd, i would like to hope so, then i could go along and meet some people face to face with similar conditions

Hi Felicity
I run an online support group for women with endo (in Australia and NZ) and I have posted your message about a gathering in Sydney - I hope that some of our members might be able to make it.

The truth is - you can help!

Even though we are based in Queensland, QENDO supports women from all over the country. You don't have to be Queensland based to be a member.

By becoming a member, you can join the team and help with fundraising and raising awareness in other states. The more members we have and the more volunteers we have, the wider the opportunities become for us to take our support work and awareness events interstate.

Membership is only $30.00 per year (annual renewal date of January 1 each year) with all money raised going towards helping QENDO to continue keeping our support lines open (that's only 60 cents per week!)

QENDO is run completely by a small team of volunteers who also have their own lives to lead and all of whom are sufferers of endometriosis. As they say, many hands make light work and your contribution will surely be appreciated.

By simply becoming a member, you will be helping. You'll also receive our quarterly newsletter and have access to a library of books you can borrow. Best of all, you'll be a part of a support network who understands what you're going through. You don't need to suffer in silence.

If you can also contribute a little time and effort, we'd love to hear from you - regardless of where you live in Australia.

Membership information can be found on our website http://www.qendo.org.au/memberships-renewals/

There's no point in sitting back and waiting for someone else to do it. Join today and help us to teach the world about endometriosis! Together, we can make a difference.

You don't need to let us know if you're coming to the meetings. They're all open to the public with tickets available at the door. We hope you can come along to not only listen to our guest speaks but to also meet other women who are in the same boat.

It's International Women's day on March 8th.
If anyone has the energy and time, what about a letter to the papers and Nicola Rixon about this ignored disability?
My daughter is going on a course of drugs which are only subsidized for 6 mths, then wil cost her $100 per month. She cannot work due to endometriosis and adenomyosis, oth of which blighted m life.
All the best to you all.
I'm wondering - what's the funding situation overseas for Endo groups?
Many Health Groups - e g The Coeliac Society in the U K - I think -please check -
are government funded.
In Italy, a coeliac can even buy food on prescription!
Time for a change.
Best wishes to you all,
Mary

I had the same question about fundraising in other states as I am located in South Australia and as a sufferer myself I am keen to aid in fundraising.
Thats a shame!
